Hudson Valley Clubhouse Hosts a Conversation with Experts on Mental Illness.
On Friday, June 7th the Board of Hudson Valley Clubhouse hosted an event to thank our early supporters, at the beautiful Stonewood Farm in Millbrook, New York. The evening featured a conversation between acclaimed author Andrew Solomon (The Noonday Demon, Far from the Tree) and renowned psychiatrist and expert on schizophrenia Jeffery Lieberman MD. The topic was Mental Illness: Research and Recovery and the conversation was wide ranging as Solomon and Lieberman explored the definition of mental illness and the efficacy of varied treatments and policies. Solomon celebrated the power of community and Clubhouse, as he spoke of his own outreach to people around the world, living with serious mental illness. The evening began with a stirring personal story from Hudson Valley Clubhouse member Michael Morris, who spoke eloquently of his experience since joining the Clubhouse in February of this year. Our thanks to our friends and supporters who joined us for this special evening.
